Childcare Expo Midlands – a platform for ActiveStart

Getting children active and outdoors is a huge focus from all those working in the early years sector today. ActiveStart’s aim is to help young children be more active and develop lifelong physical skills.

We are excited to be launching our ActiveStart platform at the Midlands Childcare Expo in September 2016. ActiveStart has a long history of working in the early years sector. Originally established in 2008 by Active Gloucestershire, ActiveStart went on to work in over 25 Children’s Centres and other early years settings across Gloucestershire. The aim was to support and up skill the early years workforce in to increase physical activity among young children.

Now Active Connections have taken on the ActiveStart brand and is delighted to bring the knowledge and insight gained through ActiveStart and other projects into an easy to use, one stop portal for those working with young children. The portal will provide low cost effective CPD opportunities, inspire through ideas and resources, and provide activity videos that can be used as a session plan tool. All with the aim of making children more active and develop life long physical skills.

Active Connections is a not for profit organisation that looks to support everyone to be more active. In addition to Active Connections staff being part of the original ActiveStart team it has gone on to work with Barnardo’s, University of Bristol and Department of Health South West, in the support of helping young children become more active.
