Another great day out at Childcare Expo by Jo Baranek
13th July 2017
Another great day out at Childcare Expo Manchester for myself and my stepdaughter. A busy one this time as I had a workshop and seminar to deliver in one day, but fun as always. We started off with the Little Scientists workshop which returned for the 3rd time and was as popular as ever. Lots of adults and children joining in with the explosive experiments and only a couple of popped balloons this time when we pushed our kebab sticks through them so success all round. Our fizzy rocket reached new heights and lots of new ideas shared for early years practitioners to try at home as always.
The time between the workshop and seminar allowed us to move around the event meeting old friends and seeing new faces and exploring lots of new products. We are very lucky in early years to have so many new ideas and resources to help our children to develop and learn through play and exploration. Amelia especially loved the green slime and the sandy mousse, she said they felt amazing in her fingers.
We visited the Twinkl Inspiration Zone where we were able to design and create story stones. Amelia made rainbows and flowers whilst I saw an amazing version of the Gruffalo; wish I was that creative! It is always great to have areas like this for us grownups to have a go at creating new resources, life is sometimes too busy to do this at home.
We enjoyed a lovely sample nursery lunch, Amelia especially loved the lasagne and ice cream, then headed over to deliver the seminar on Making Maths Matter for children. I was very pleased to see so many eager faces in the seats as maths can be a very “marmite” subject! Lots of ideas shared for engaging children in fun maths activities, especially the most mobile children and those with strong interests.
As always Childcare Expo gave us lots of opportunities to meet like-minded professionals and explore new resources as well as visit seminars and workshops to learn new knowledge for ourselves. Opportunities like these are becoming rarer, especially as we can visit the show for free and attend numerous workshops without costing us a penny! Where else can you get this?
I am looking forward to Childcare Expo Midlands already, planning out my next exciting workshop… I hope to see you there!
