Happy Birthday to the Early Years Nutrition Partnership

The Early Years Nutrition Partnership is nearly a year old now and we are looking forward to celebrating with many of you at Childcare Expo Midlands! After having such a successful time in Manchester we can’t wait to be part of the Expo again. Watch this space for details of everything that is going to be happening at our stand and the very exciting celebratory event we are planning on the Friday evening!

Our first year has seen some wonderful achievements. Over 90 nurseries and pre-schools have signed up to the programme and received their ‘Committed’ certificate, and in June Orchards Day Nursery in St. Neots became the first to receive accreditation with the EYN Partnership Quality Mark. Well done Orchards!

Some nurseries have achieved fabulous success with the EYN Partnership and in April we were particularly delighted to bring you news of Tender Years Day Nursery in Solihull, which was awarded its very first Outstanding grade from Ofsted, something that owner Lisa Whitehouse attributes partly to their involvement with the EYN Partnership which is lovely to hear.

Over recent months we have been delighted to see a number of practitioners complete the Cache Level 3 qualification unit “Promote nutrition and hydration in early years and childcare settings”. It has been great to get the feedback that this training is such a success, with practitioners describing it as inspiring and confidence building, and managers recognising the benefits of investing in team members. We have recently launched face to face training sessions for those nurseries and pre-schools where several members of the team are keen to develop their nutrition knowledge. The group training is brilliant for helping to make changes as lots of members of staff are all pulling together and motivated to deliver the best in nutrition and learning about food.

We are in an exciting phase for the EYN Partnership, hearing back from nurseries that we work with about what they need and working with them to tailor-make our service.
