Hear from our exhibitors – Oaktree Designs

At Childcare Expo, we aim to help our exhibitors gain as much from their experience in exhibiting at our shows to ensure their business objectives are met. For many companies, big or small, the expense of marketing can seem huge, but the power of face to face still shines through time and time again.

We spoke to Oaktree Designs at Childcare Expo Midlands to talk about the importance of being seen at exhibitions. Since September 2014, the teaching of systematic synthetic phonics has been a requirement of the new national curriculum. Their latest product, Wildlife Phonics Frieze that was showcased at the event, has been designed as a resource for both parents and teachers, so that the short phonics lesson is constantly being reinforced at home and in school.

Joy Reekie, Founder of Oaktree Designs explained the purpose of attending Childcare Expo; “We aim to target the early years sector to let them know of our product before the children in their care attend school in order to benefit them at the earliest opportunity. The audience was crucial when deciding to book the event as we didn’t want to waste marketing resources. Being able to speak to people one on one allows us to get our message across clearly and answer any questions they may have.”

Childcare Expo brings the community of early years practitioners in one place so that companies who attend have the advantage of meeting the right people face to face. A visitor may not know the value of the service or product that is on show for them until it is explained and demonstrated.

The feedback we receive from the shows highlight the importance of coming together to work towards the same goal. As Joy said when asked about what she loves about the early years sector, ‘The Potential’ is something that is true across the board.

“The Ricoh Arena is close to home and we as a company couldn’t not be here. We loved the experience we had at Childcare Expo London at the beginning of the year and the support of the event staff encouraged us to return along with the kind words from the early years practitioners we came into contact with.”
