Childcare Expo, the longest-running Early Years event, adapts as well as responds to the needs of sector year on year. This year at the upcoming Manchester event in June, Childcare Expo introduces the first Health & Wellbeing Zone to their already jam-packed event.

The Health & Wellbeing Zone has been designed as an exclusive feature area providing Early Years practitioners with vital information to help educate and inspire their practice. A whole host of leading experts and organisations have come together to bring the concept to life and the organisers are excited to unveil it to the anticipated crowds at EventCity on 15 & 16 June.

The zone focuses on the key issues that children along with practitioners are facing when it comes to health and wellbeing including, but not limited to, Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health, Nutrition and Physical Health. Creators of the zone include the Early Years Nutrition Partnership, eQe, Early Years SEN, Collar & Cuffs Co and ERIC. The areas are each supported by resources from TTS. Across the two days, workshops will be running in the performance area and special guest Ben Faulks, also known as Mr Bloom from CBeeBies, will teach participants how to play the ukulele. The full programme can be found here.

It is widely recognised that a child’s physical and emotional wellbeing greatly affects learning, and with health and wellbeing issues increasing within early years settings it’s never been a more important time to explore this vital topic. Childcare Expo invites all Early Years practitioners from far and wide to join in to understand more about this diverse topic.

With this in mind, the Pre-school Learning Alliance has launched a mental health survey asking for your views on working on the early years and what impact, if any, this has had on your health and wellbeing. Click here to complete the survey.

The Alliance intends to share findings with delegates at their annual conference, Minds Matter: protecting the wellbeing of children and practitioners in the early years on 1 June.
