ROL Reflections on Learning have been exhibiting at Childcare Expo since 2011. The success of each show is why they return year on year as established exhibitors to meet and greet our visitors.  For over fifteen years Reflections on Learning has been a key provider of high quality resources and equipment for the early years and the transition into primary. There has always been a focus on the learning and development of young children which is supported by appropriate products which encourage children’s creativity and curiosity across all areas of learning.

More recently Reflections on Learning has commissioned their early years consultant, Linda Thornton, to write a variety of articles which are available free of charge on their website. Linda has worked with Reflections on Learning from the outset, designing and selecting products and writing support material. Along with Pat Brunton she has written many books and articles, including those on the Reggio Approach and science in the early years and primary.

Learning and Development, @ Home and Products
The articles available on the Reflections on Learning website are intended to help early years practitioners and teachers develop their practice and to provide some bright ideas.
The longer articles take a look at a range of subjects connected to young children’s learning and development and provide professional background and ideas for what each area looks like in practice, including how to resource your setting or classroom.
Shorter articles explore the learning and development opportunities provided by different selected products to make sure they are used to improve the quality of provision.
To help professionals working in the early years and into primary to engage with parents and influence the quality of the home learning environment there is a series of articles @Home which provide information and ideas sheets which can be given directly to parents. These are usually linked to the topics in the learning and development articles.

Science in the early years and primary
The website includes a series of articles on science in the early years and the transition to primary based on the work which Linda has done over more than forty years in education. They look at each of the key areas of science in turn, providing the non-specialist with easy to grasp information on the actual science knowledge which is useful to anyone teaching science. The articles then provide practical ideas which show how each area of science can be introduced to the under threes, three to fives and beyond.

You can view the articles written by Linda Thornton here.
