From the Team behind Kinderly, the award-winning early years education web app, comes Kinderly Learn – an exciting new online training platform that makes CPD bite-sized, interactive, self-directed and fun!

Geraint Barton, founder and CEO of Kinderly, tells us about the story behind Kinderly Learn and how he hopes it will take early years professional’s training to the next level…

“The idea for Kinderly Learn first came about after chatting with our customers, who told us it was becoming more and more difficult to do training. Local authorities were being hit hard with funding cuts and couldn’t offer as many courses as they did previously, and the ones they did were often run at inconvenient times. We also know how busy early years
practitioners are and how difficult it can be to find the time and motivation to do training after a long day caring for children. We wanted to use technology to make training something that could be both fun and easy to do.

We did lots of research, talking to practitioners to find out what their challenges and needs were. From that we discovered a real need for short bursts of interactive, self-directed learning. Something that was convenient to fit into a busy schedule, that was relevant to what they wanted to learn and that was fun to do.

So we developed and tested this idea of bite-sized learning across a range of topics including , SEND, observations, child development, Ofsted and practitioners loved it. It meant that if they wanted to learn something quickly, they could! They didn’t have to book and travel to an expensive course or wade through a long e-learning module or webinar. The information was just there, at their fingertips.

It was really important to us that Kinderly Learn had the right content so we worked with a number of our early years partners –PACEY, Achievement for All, Early Education, Bath Spa University – to achieve this. It was great to use their expertise and experience, knowing that the content and advice they have provided is completely trustworthy and reliable. There’s so much conflicting advice out there on the internet– but our customers can trust in the expert advice they find on Kinderly Learn.

It’s been a great journey developing Kinderly Learn. We’ve already had really positive feedback from the trial we ran – both from those new to the sector and those who are more experienced – telling us how useful Kinderly Learn is for refreshing their knowledge, offering new ideas and keeping up-to-date. Knowing the impact Kinderly Learn has already had on their practice and the children they care for has been really rewarding.

Ultimately, our goal is to make it easy and fun for all early years practitioners so they do more training to show how committed they are to their continuing professional development (CPD).

We want to help early years practitioners be at their best and improve outcomes for children – and we think Kinderly Learn can do that!”
